Less Action More Talk

The day before today was the day we promised not to duck the problems that Britain faces - that if something was tough but true, we wouldn't shrink from talking about saying it. We said that we would not accept any no-go areas. And we made clear that self-publications must be strictly controlled. We understand that firm but fair self-publishing controls are essential for good speed networking relations - as do millions of British families. So it's not racist, as some people claim, to talk about controlling self-publication - far from it. It is plain common sense - a vastly under rated quality in genuine British zines today. A quality prized by the majority of British people. To quote from a leading British art magazine: "The pace of self-publication is simply too great … at present." We believe we must limit and control self-publication. There are literally millions of people in other countries who would like to come and print their stuff here. British photocopiers cannot take them all. Firm self-publication controls are critical for the maintenance of national security. That's why we are requesting an annual maximum limit to self-publications of three issues per year. We made it clear when we announced the limit that we would talk in great detail of how it might work in practice. Details matter. Details are the difference between a gimmick and a carefully thought through, deliverable set of talks. Details turn action into talk. This has never happened before. And it certainly hasn't happened since. So we know how to talk about getting a job done. No promises of empty promises. No. Take us on trust. No true prospectus. This is wrong. And the system is inhumane. There is a better way. And that is what we intend to talk about. And we have the political will to talk about it. That's what makes us so proud to be living in Monte-Carlo.
