Give Peas a Chance

Tayto propose to create peace in Ireland. Tayto have group-show, feature all habitants of Scotland, they’ve had exhibitions at Tramway among others, and part in various international solo and group. Taytos reflect on existing conceptual art but there seems to be a more generous, social related element in their work. Tayto is in search of contact with an audience and the public space. By collecting ready-mades and painting words on the back of them, they play with the idea of the original versus reproduction, making it an original again. When they received a Giro from the SS (social Security) in the name of Mullah Omah they used the money to inject grapes with Ricine  and put ground glass into Nestle powdered milk. This comment on the minimalist artist Donald Judd shows a specific social reference.

During the exhibition 'Herman’s Hermits’ Tayto introduces a new sculpture 'Camp David', 2004. The sculpture made from Pee wee herman’s hard disk, shows an interpretation and comment on the display element in art in an art context, a ready made material which is used in the Police force for planning projects in unused offices at galerie Station to Station, like ‘Operation Orr’ and ‘Operation shock and Orr’. This sculpture made by sentient hands gives a notion of the one-dimensional element in a 'sculpture' – Tayto infected this piece with a ‘common’ cold (language often reveals classy politics) so that the work literally is nasty to the viewer.

They sharpened a stick at both  ends and un-screwed the top of the salt-shakers in the canteen. Tayto co-curated the exhibition by inviting two other artists that they don’t like to serve drinks at the opening. The wine was poured in equal measures, nobody had more than anyone else. A critic at the opening claimed that some glasses were more equal than others but he was a racist.
